How to Refresh Concealer During the Day Without Caking

Applying concealer is tricky and refreshing it is even more tricky. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure your concealer stays fresh and natural all day long.

Use Blotting Papers

Before you do a quick refresh, grab some blotting papers to remove any excess oil around your eyes gently. This step is crucial to prevent your makeup from becoming a greasy mess when you touch it up.

Hydrating Spray

Give your face a light spritz with a hydrating facial mist. This will make it easier to blend your concealer back into place and also prevent it from looking dry/cakey. Your face should not be in such a condition that water is dripping off of it.

Blend Out Any Creases

After misting, use your ring finger to gently tap and blend out any creases that may have formed during the day. This naturally smooths out the product without adding more.

Apply a Thin Layer of Concealer (If Needed)

Less is More. Yes, LESS IS MORE. Your concealer is already getting caky and anything in excess will make it worse.

If you see that some areas need extra coverage, apply a very thin layer of fresh concealer. Focus only on the spots where the coverage has worn off.

Blend it well. Blending with a damp beauty blender is not a good idea. A damp beauty blunder works wonders for foundation, but the eye is a different base.

Set with a Light Dusting of Powder

After you are done with reapplying concealer, and only if you feel your concealer needs setting, use just a tiny bit of translucent powder. A light dusting will help set everything in place without making it look heavy or dry.

Lock It In

Finish by lightly misting your face with a setting spray. This will help lock in your refreshed concealer and keep it looking fresh plus smooth for the rest of the day.

Now, Refreshing your concealer doesn’t have to lead to caking. By following these simple steps you can keep shining flawlessly all day long.
